First Sewing Project

The very first thing to be created with my new sewing machine was a set of Christmas table mats.  I scoured websites about sewing/quilting to come up with ideas for patterns.
I found a block that looked reasonably simple to make  and headed to my local knitting/sewing shop for some fabric.
I bought some fat quarters of some Christmassy colours, then went to work.

Here's a picture of the tops made.  I didn't take a photo of the finished mats but I quilted in the ditch and bound them with red bias binding.  These were given to my daughter for Christmas!  I also used some of the leftover fabric to make her a pincushion to go in her new sewing box I gave her for Christmas. Next project here I come!
