New (to me) Bernina

I have been looking around for a few months for a sewing cabinet to house my sewing machine. My machine is usually a permanent fixture on our dining room table along with my cutting mat!  I scoured local adverts, ebay, preloved, gumtree - all the usual sources.  A few weeks ago I saw an advert on e bay for a Bernina 1020 sewing machine - it came ready housed in a horn sewing cabinet!
The seller had this machine and cabinet in their home for the past 18 months, having inherited it from an aunt who had spent the last few years of her life in a nursing home.  The seller had no interest in sewing and had never used the machine.
I was very lucky and won the auction...yay....
I arranged a carrier to collect it and deliver it to me.. worth every penny of the £70 it cost to bring it  from South Wales to the Scottish Highlands.

And what a treasure trove.... the seller may not have been interested in sewing... but the aunt certainly was!
Included in the cabinet were threads, notions, patterns, buttons, lace, zips etc..etc...
And of course.... the Bernina sewing machine which hadn't been used for many years.

I cleaned out the bobbin case, oiled the machine, put in a new needle and switched on!   It sews like a dream.  Straight, clean, perfect tension!  Only thing it doesn't have is a needle threader so I have to do a bit of sqinting... but hey - I'm not complaining!

So if the seller ever reads this (though why would she as she's not interested in sewing?) - thank you!
I'm sure your aunt would be happy that her machine and cabinet has found another loving home!
(PS) cards are hubby's birthday cards...haven't managed to get cabinet into my 'new' sewing room yet!

Cushion

I'm just back from 10 days holiday in Cyprus.  It was a lovely time of year to go.  Hot  - but not too hot - and with the pool and sea warm enough for swimming comfortably.
But no matter how much I enjoy holidays it's always great to get back home.
While I was away it was my friend's birthday so I had given her a present before I left and told her she had to keep it and open it on her birthday.
I made a little cushion for her bed.  The pattern was in Patchwork & Quilting magazine and I thought it was so cute when I saw it. I had to adapt it a bit because in the original pattern the pots were painted on to the fabric and I just wanted to use fabric.  But I think it turned out ok.  Embroidery was a bit shaky but my reasoning is it just makes it more quirky!!!

I hope she liked it!
